Creating the Audient ORIA iPad App was an exciting journey in blending intuitive design with powerful functionality. While I can’t delve into all the specifics, here’s an overview of the process and key design considerations.
Understanding the Vision
The primary goal was to develop an app that offered seamless control over the Audient ORIA system, allowing users to manage their immersive audio environment effortlessly, all from the convenience of their iPads. This meant creating an interface that was intuitive while maintaining the depth of control needed for working with complex multi-channel setups up to 9.1.6 formats.
User-Centric Design
User experience was at the forefront of the design process. I prioritised creating an interface that was clean, responsive, and easy to navigate. The challenge was to strike a balance between simplicity and the advanced control required for immersive audio production. Extensive user research, exploration of workflows, and collaboration with key stakeholders ensured that the app’s functionality met user expectations while aligning with the Audient ORIA’s capabilities.
One standout feature was the integration of Fast Profile Recall, which allows users to easily switch between different speaker configurations with the press of a button. The app needed to reflect this functionality intuitively, ensuring quick access to these features without overwhelming the user.
Collaboration and Iteration
Throughout development, close collaboration with developers and product managers was crucial. Regular iterations and feedback sessions helped refine the user interface, ensuring we stayed aligned with both user needs and the technical capabilities of the ORIA system, as well as the iOS Guidelines.
